Impeach Bush

The United Nations Charter forbids member states from attacking each other without authorization of the Security Council.

President Bush has made it clear that he plans to attack without Security Council authorization. In fact he withdrew a resolution to give a deadline to Saddam when it became clear it would fail, rather than suffer embarrassing defeat in the council.

But the United States Constitution makes it clear that ratified treaties have the force of law in the United States.

That makes it pretty clear to me that for Bush to attack Iraq would be just the kind of "high crime" that the Constitution says Congress should impeach the President for.

I'd like to suggest that if Bush attacks, you call, write or fax your congressional representatives to point this out, and urge them to impeach Bush. (Don't bother emailing them, as they receive so much spam that they ignore it.)

You see, it doesn't matter whether or not he had Congressional authorization. The U.N. charter has the force of law in the United States, and Bush must be held to it. You should urge your congresspeople not to be a party in his crime.

You can find out your congresscritter's name, phone number, fax number and postal address at www.congress.org.

Thank you for your attention.
